A great way to test memory performance impact on Ryzen is playing a 1080p game on ultra with a overkill GPU, like a GTX 1080 Ti. This is a real possibility for the 144Hz gamer, like me.
I had amazing performance gains tightening the latency of my memories, now running 3200MHz CL14 on Ryzen 1st gen, subtimings tweaked. Like 20+ on minimum FPS at this case scenario.

ugggg rgb needs to die off

Pc ColdWar says:

very easy to undertand they could make the argument since there ssd also probably gonna get that rgb spd you be able to all link there rgb godnosense lol each component of course whit a healty price premiun the build gonna cost you 50/100 more make no sense to me at least since i’m not having top ends cpu or gpu every generation better save now and wait for the next true gain in performance better look if your into rgb at the new corsair one since they offer nice feature set of effect

I do recall G-Skill Trident RGB kits that used the SPD were getting bricked because of that and people wondered why use the SPD at all for non critical functions. Considering that it’s software that does the bricking and not providing software to control the RGB, one thing’s for sure, the HyperX RAM can not be bricked by third party RGB software writing to the SPD, because it doesn’t have to.

Timingssat 2933 is to slow. GSkill 3200Mhz TridentZ Samsung b-die kits at 14-14-14-34 at 1.35v is better, and looks great.

My PC started misbehaving couple of months after I built it. Later, the first pcie slot started running at X4 speed instead of X16 and I discovered that whenever my memory is running in an XMP profile the pcie slot runs at X4 speed, but if the memory is running at default speed, the pcie slot goes back to X16 speed. The problem is whenever I disabled XMP profile to allow the GPU to run at x16 speed, the PC crashes or goes into a restart loop or doesn’t show a signal. I don’t know if the problem is from the ram or the motherboard itself.

I must be in a very small minority, I was happily running 3200mhz 14-14-14-31 memory with a 1600x on an Asus Prime B350 motherboard, I replaced the 1600x with a 2700x but now I can’t run the memory any higher than 3000mhz. 🙁 I’m thinking about replacing the motherboard with a 470 model but doing that negates the point of having a motherboard supported for longer. Plus I don’t think it really makes much difference in my everyday performance. It just would of been nice if it had continued to run as was with the older cpu.

Simon Ocean says:

So: 1) It is slowish. 2) It has poorish latency. 3) It is not Samsung B die. 4) It is the same price as Samsung B die, 3600 MHz CL14 from Team Group. 5) It has frikking laser beams. In other words for kiddies only.

Stop putting in RGB in everything FFS, its stupid pointless and a waste of smegging time..
