Intel are in a world of trouble, as it has been discovered that a bug in the design of their processors could impact performance by up to 30 PERCENT, and worse – not microcode update will fix the issue at all. Therefore, if you wish to retain the current hardware you’ll need a OS based update, which will negatively impact performance. Adding further insult to injury, this problem doesn’t occur with AMD hardware, a potential diaster for Intel going forward given AMD’s moves with Epyc against Intel’s Xeon in the datacenter.

Bitcoin miners got well too greedy
Well done Intel. Now I have to disable Windows Updates on my Ryzen system.
A lot of people aren’t install those patches from their manufacturers site because they don’t know how.
Would it affect the 7700? I stg I just spend £1200 on a PC If it is fucked I’m losing it
Time to start looking at AMD.
fortunately its only a 5% decrease which is 3 to 5 fps in some cases this is massive for the low end but for high end its okay i guess
Are 7th gen processors affected?
In the last 6 month I am contemplating what system I should get. Intel or AMD. We had to deal with windows creator errors high disk usage put SSD card in to solve the problem. Then the crazy i9 and thread ripper ryzen. Came on the market. So I waited a little longer. And now Intel super bug.my mind for sure is on AMD system now. Intel can keep there bug processor.
LOL, the “Kernel Fix” increased gaming performance, not to mention they could debug it over time to increase performance even more.. Who knows, maybe Intel needed to look at that code to improve it since they havent looked at it in 10 years, lol.. I cant wait to see what they find with these cheap Chinese made Ryzen cpu’s…… Oh the doom and gloom amd fanboy hoping to slow down intel cpus to make their ryzen purchase validated, I think its fucking hilarious…. Also to let you know, the kernel fix has been out for a month, if you would actually do some research you might find the truth, instead of belching out bullshit regurgitated FAKE NEWS! 2:10 kol cntrl flaw
It is 30% on only very, very limited edge case scenario within 4k write performance. NOT that any loss is acceptable even 3% requiring bios update to fix it. Bios updates can and do go wrong, bricking working machines occasionally.
FAKE NEWS!
why ms can’t cover up intel’s ass this time. they have already conspire to force the end user swatch from win 7 to win 10?????
I’m sure I heard about this Intel microcode bug thing ageeeess ago?! Like months ago from somewhere on YouTube
Bullshit. I hace benched.myself pre and post patch. No difference in gaming
So much false informations and lies about that bug right now. That is unbelievable. And the tip of the iceberg are AMD Fanboys trying to pour oil in the fire and making panic.
Fact is the fix was already been tested and prooven it makes absolutely no performance difference, just in little cases it idffers to max 3% Source: https://www.computerbase.de/2018-01/intel-cpu-pti-sicherheitsluecke/#update2
And specially the casual consumer will not notice anything.
Why dont people attack amd for their mistakes ? Like the lkast decade of AMD processors overall ?
This video is already inaccurate. It even overstates the best information available at the time of the release of the video.
Lol, such bullshit. This has been proven to not affect home users, gamers, video editors at all, it has been already patched by Microsoft and according to the benchmarks, that you can see at Guru3d and Tom’s Hardware this has no effect at all on us home users. The only noticeable performance hit will be for server owners. So yeah, sad news for AMD fanboy’s and this fear inviting video. So, when is the followup video showing benchmarks pre and post patch? Oh, no video right? Yeah because we know this doesn’t affect home users at all.
all this news about intel is making me regret buying coffee lake XD Fak i upgraded from fx-4300 XD
When channels show stupid ass VR propaganda
How will they make up for the performance loss?
10-30 percent is alot, take that away from most benchmarks and AMD would be the better buy, every time and in every way.
The performance loss, is almost identically to the performance gain, from one generation Intel to the next, so should be easy to figure out, pay for the mistakes, like everyone else, tough but fair.
Im pretty sure mine has more than 35%loss, my 5820k and gtx970 can just barely browse the web very slowly
Wait hold up, my CPU is going to be 30% less powerful after the update…. this is bullshit. I want my money back so i can buy a Ryzen chip >:(
Hello could somebody please tell me what can i do now, i have over 3 years old laptop with intel i5 4210u whats my options ?
Liked, awesome vid! I have more info, check it out: https://youtu.be/816jfFHAsng
See guys? THIS is why i stopped using amd/intel/arm-processors 😉
Confused is the bug affecting performance or is the patch affecting performance……?
Actually it has been patched with a bios update the microcode patch has been updated already for newer motherboards from the last 3 years
*laughs in ARM*
Intel needs to get sued for leaving the door open and drop their prices, and intel praiser pricks need switch to AMD
This is a big fucking thing, stupid people argue about gaming performance but this will have a HUUUUUge impact on the servers of big corporations etc and since its a physical bug then that means no patch is going to save Intel from its downfall, Amd will reign in 2018 with Epyc and Ryzen refresh…
P.S go get a refund on the itel cpu while you have a chance, performance is least of your problem, considering some Chinese fucker will enter your pc and start doing all kind of illegal shit…
Planned obsolescence. Wait… I promise you Intel will start making big bucks on new CPU’s that don’t have this flaw because nearly every business will need to change. They knew about this.
