Intel Coffee lake 8700K Review Overclocking Benchmarks and Undervolting

Coffee Lake and the 8700K are finally here. Is it just a 6 Core 7700K? What does it overclock like? What about undervolting?

Am I the only one who uses Window’s advanced Power Options menu’s Processor Power Management option to downclock my CPU to whatever max and/or minimum frequency I want. No bullshit messing around with bios and overclock settings, it’s just a simple 1 value adjustment in the Power Options

streaming and recording game-play or do i need to upgrade to 1060 6GB
for future proof, can you kindly suggest me a good CPU & GPU
please??

Alittle Looney says:

Looks like a great CPU but you can’t buy them and when you do if they sell for less than $400 I will eat my hat. Not a big surprise to me. Were getting to the point with CPU’s where about 5% of users will take advantage of the expensive performance thta’s available. An R5 1600 or an i5 is about all most users need for now. If you have an extra $150 a 7600k or 7700k is not a horrible purchase but with most cases not really worth the extra money.

GipsyDanger01 says:

Not a good time to buy a pc… Not cos of the prices but cos i have no clue what the hell is going on.

CPC_RedDawn says:

Whilst I am not an AMD fanboy, I am currently on an 1800x. Why? Because I wanted to support AMD for what they are doing. I was on an i7 7700K and with its heat I wasn’t happy.

No one can deny that Intel release VERY good products, great performance, great IPC, great overclocking, etc, etc.

It is just their stupidity that makes me sick of been taken for a ride. With new chipsets almost every year, fragmented product ranges with different sockets, cutting off a socket pin to force people to buy a new motherboard, releasing clearly unfinished products to regain market share, releasing insanely hot products and then using dust-like TIM on them, resorting to childish “glued together” slogans to bash their competition.

I just don’t like their attitude, I have been with Intel since the original Core 2 days with a Core 2 X6800, I want strong competition and AMD just didn’t offer that. But now they do, they have really really ignited the market which is GREAT for us consumers.

Right now, regardless of what you buy or which side of the fence you sit on you are finally getting great products at great value and products that actually move the hardware along. Now all we need if for the software to catch up and use of this power and we will be all set.

Mr Warspite says:

Intel STILL hasn’t fixed the i7-7700 1 second temp spike problem and its even been passed on to the 8700. It manifests just by opening a web page, the cpu will report 75c for 1 second, max the cpu fan, then drop back down to normal temps. It’s not a cooling problem, its something wrong with the temp sensor.

Twin Turbo says:

What is Linus is doing for money nowadays – promoting butt razors and butt wipes at the end of his hardware review ? ? ? .. that’s it, I’m switching to Paul’s hardware and OC3D for my hardware news source, they are ethical

1stfloorguy says:

Intel pisses me off with the shit tim they push out. It’s litterly the cheapest slug juice they could find. When you delid you just dropped 20c. Shouldn’t have to void your warranty to do this job.

Donkeyxoter says:

that intro is kinda super boring 🙁 i just want to see what the title says

Brandon Dennis says:

It’s gotta be. Rough for you getting all that hardware in the mail for FREE.

Joe Momma says:

How come my core voltage is not changing in cpu-z after I changed it and saved it in bios? It reads 0.672 V even though I changed it to 1.35

Gelo Parlade says:

Stupid thumbnail. It’s suggesting that a 6 core 7700k is not that interesting. 7700k was already the king for gaming but lost in the productivity side compared to ryzen. Now with 2 more cores and 4 more threads productivity is theoretically improved by 50% while maintaining the high core clock which was a trade-off in last Gen’s i7 with more than 4 cores. All this I deducted without watching his video. Again Stupid Thumbnail which purpose is clickbait but earned him a dislike and not a view. I don’t watch his vids but I hate stupid thumbnails in my recommended

Ken Kimmel says:

+oc3d tv I cannot find software that gives accurate voltage, what did you use?

Gen Citro says:

Made it to 3 mins then got bored…

joe dufey says:

great video

Thorbjørn says:

some of the boards have gotten bios updates which “Enhance CPU performance” could to retest 370 Killer from ASRock?

Jimmy Dean says:

Tom mentioned Price-Per-Performance, but never put the chart up (nor on OC3D)? Still… he did so much testing that you should have no doubt which cpu best fits your next build. I hope the rumors are true on the 8cores, but feel like anybody upgrading today is going to get the shaft. Thanks for all your hard work Tom (wave).

Your Highness says:

Intel is once again pulling some bullshit.

tortordenful says:

But can it run Crysis ?

Billy Mathieu says:

OK where can i get one?.. LOL =p

Doggman Snapperdude says:

Okay I don’t understand can I turbo boost through bios all 6 cores on 8700k to 4.7 or is it only one or two cores that will run that If it’s true then I would upgrade from 7700k

Peter Dobson says:

Can we please stop saying PC master race. It makes us sound like complete arseholes.

the motor city cobra says:

Is there some kind of trickery happening with Coffee Lake? The CPUs guzzle much more power.

The Horror says:

QUESTION BROTHER,,,, AT 4K IS INTEL SKYLAKE OBSOLETE COMPARED TO RYZEN. INTELS CLAIM TO FAME IS HOLDING ON TO FASTEST GAMING CPU,, BUT AT 4K ITS A WASH WITH A PREMIUM GPU (I7’S ARE JUST AS FAST AS RYZEN AT 4K AT GAMING) , SO FROM THERE, RYZEN DECCIMATES INTEL AT RENDERING, STREAMING, EXTENDED SCIENTIFIC CALC, ETC. SO ISNT INTEL OBSOLETE BECAUSE OF RYZEN AT 4K, THIS IS WHY COFFEE LAKE IS REALIZING THE MULTICORE IS THE FUTURE RYZEN FORCED ON INTEL??

LOVE YOUR CHANNEL BY THE WAY, WELL EXPLAINED DATA… TEN THUMBS UP.

Emmanuel Verdejo says:

Is it worth it to upgrading when i have a 1080ti? I think it does a little bit of improvements.

Yosef Elgart says:

hey how set ofset voltage with specific cpu votage when overcloking on aorus ultra gaming?

ZZstaff says:

So, an i7 7700K is still a good gaming CPU and comparable to the i7 8700K, at least according to the limited number of games you tested?

Bizzare Gamer says:

Hi could you do a 4.8ghz overclocking video on the i7 8700k with ASUS Maximus hero please

David Ledbetter says:

I wish someone would do a review of 8700k vs Ryzen stock on air. A real world review. Every video out there the 8700k has had to be on water or delided etc, etc. Real world review, stock to stock on air.

LoCk3H says:

And now they are 430 quid!

Gungrave123 says:

“few years later” -Kaby lake is 8 months old platform..
