LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt 1TB External Drive Review

As a videographer, I produce lots of really big files and have to work with them both on my main server and on my MacBook Pro laptop while in the field. Fortunately, I have the LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt 1TB external hard drive to keep everything zipping along and it’s so fast that even my computer runs faster when I boot off the drive rather than my internal hard drive. That’s a fast connection!

My review of the LaCie (a division of Seagate) Rugged Thunderbolt Drive also highlights its compatibility with USB 3.0 and how tough it is, with water, dust and drop resistance designed into the distinct orange bumper.

Unfortunately owned by seagate and they use seagate drives inside and are AWFUL … i had a minimus 2TB drive and it died after 5 uses …. it turns out the case design can’t disipate enough heat and the drives over heat ….seagates answer …tough shit it’s out of warranty time ….. their backup support is just WOEFUL ….. my advice….don’t buy ANYTHING from Seagate

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY…. the thunderbolt cable is so cheaply made it has so much wiggle room the drive disconnected by itself and all the Data was LOST! Literally on my first use. And the customer service sucks, the number they provide is a non working number.
