Ethan Eldredge says:

I have a EVGA 500w PSU in my rig and it works great and I have a FX 9590 and a GTX 1060, Buy lower wattages but from good brands EVGA,Corsair, and Antec

magdsmad says:

I’ve been using the same corsair 750 watt power supply for a while now for multiple builds lol. Good ol reliable is still pretty damn efficient and the wattage of my new system (I recently went from the i7 ivy bridge cpu to the newest i5 and the old gtx 670 to a 1070 recently) is actually like 200 watts less power draw at load.

Igorius Lavrentjevas says:

got 1700w psu and i7 4790k cuz why not
oh and PowerColor Devil 13 Dual Core Radeon R9 390 hah

AMD Master Race says:

corsair tells me that higher wattage psu increase fps because it allows me to allocate some ssd ram to download more cuda cores onto my rx 480 and overclock it to 5 ghz
why wouldn’t you want a platinum 1200 watt psu?

TaprootToob says:

I have a Dell T3500 and want to put GTX 780 in it. Two PSUs? I am so broke

THE TRUE KING says:

1000w psu will not break

Wade Yates says:

I am travelling outside US and this VPN service “kanat unique one” (Google it) functions like a charm. Thanks to this service, I was able watch televisions shows and also other programs just like I was at home. I also used this in my school where WiFi blocks social media, so this is the ideal VPN I could find to unblock everything and it functions good.

Shawn Haggard says:

but Linus puts high wattage PSUs in machines to keep the noise down.

Horton Expoh says:

So F boring. Every F time

Joseph Johnson says:

But bigger numbers are better. So clearly you need the biggest power supply you can find to make your puter run faster. Bigger is always better. It’s just like racing stripes.

infinite angel says:

OK I want to know how much wattage I’m go to really need also I want to overclock.

But how else could I use my USB microwave?

always check toms hardware PSU list – evga G2 650’s are a good price on Amazon (just bought one)

Chance Chernoff says:

COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UNLIMITEED POOOOOOOOOOOOOWER

jordanb450 says:

Interesting video, thanks. When I was in the build process, I had picked a 550w PSU. Out of curiosity I looked at higher wattage PSU’s of the same make/model and, at that time, I could get the 750w PSU for $20 less…I know I’ll never need that much power, but $20 is $20.

karma police says:

what about mining rigs huh? thought about that?

Peter Schmidt says:

One thing to point out:
Parts are more efficient these days, but companies are also pushing the envelope too. Heatsinks are getting bigger, there are more extreme forms of cooling, and many components (from motherboards to CPUs to GPUs) have been adding more and more power pins.

I agree it’s stupid to a PSU with double (or more) the wattage you’ll actually use, but, many PCs are actually more power-hungry than they were in 2008 despite being more efficient.

Justin 3 says:

I am working with a guy on Craigslist and we are going to get a Corsair AX1500i, but yeah we have an assenine plan, a 6 GPU mining rig

John Jepson says:

But they’re great for mining Ether 😉

Captain Schmi says:

80+ bronze 430 watt power supply, xeon 1230v2, 250 gb ssd, 5 tb hdd, 3 led case fans, gtx 1050ti, 16 gb ram, dq77mk motherboard, dvd drive… plenty of power to spare.

D0wnshift says:

I have a 1200W PSU. It’s from the days when I had two GTX480s in SLI. My rig back then drew 1100W from the wall under 100% load. Suck it.

ProjectHomeProductions says:

I have a 1200w Strider Gold+ from when I was rocking SLI GTX 580s and have 0 use for it now to run my 770 and FX8350

mr8I7 says:

But how else would I power my USB powered pizza oven?

David Laurance says:

it’s a power thing, you wouldn’t understand…

I got a 730w psu… and I don’t even have a gpu

Adam949 says:

Idont understand why this guy is so cheap? That load was right in the PSU’s high efficiancy zone… If you max out the TDP or exceed 60% you generate heat… Heat is bad and heat kills PSU and i would never want a PSU that turned the fan off or lowered its speed. one more thing to go wrong aka a PSU fan failure.

Ernestas says:

COMPACITORS? WHAT XDDD

ShapedSquare says:

what website did luke use to count watt usage?
